About Greg

As Managing Director, Greg oversees all areas of the group and brings over 25 years of industry experience to the team. Greg joined Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management in May 2015. He has been honored as one of Barron’s Magazine’s “Top 100 Financial Advisors” (2014, 2013, 2012, 2011) and was also recognized as a member of the inaugural Financial Times “Top 400 Advisors” (2013). 

After beginning his career in Corporate Finance at Goldman Sachs, Greg moved to their Private Wealth Management Division in 1993, where he built one of the most successful teams in the world. Following Goldman Sachs, Greg joined UBS Private Wealth Management, where he was consistently recognized as one of the top professionals in the Firm. Greg earned his MBA from Harvard University in 1987, where he served as Student Body President. He received his B.S. in Sociology and English in 1985 from Brigham Young University, where he was Student Body President and one of the valedictorians.

Greg grew up on a farm in Idaho with his four younger siblings. He is very close with his family and considers them his greatest treasure. His passions include travel, exercise, reading and motivational materials. He is involved with various community services, served as a volunteer in Indonesia, and is a member of the Childhelp Arizona Board and the UNLV Foundation Advisory Board. Greg is an Eagle Scout.

Daniel Hawkins

Vice President, Portfolio Management Associate Director


Danny oversees all aspects of the group’s investment management process and partners with Doug in managing client service. He joined Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management in May 2015. Danny’s investment skills are invaluable to the team, with his extensive experience in asset allocation, manager selection and alternative investments.

Prior to Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management, Danny worked for UBS beginning in 2005. His rich history within the investment industry includes work experience at Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, and Quellos Group, LLC. In 2002, Danny earned his MBA from Harvard University. He received his B.S. in Psychology from Brigham Young University in 1997.

An experienced cyclist and off-road motorcyclist, Danny enjoys staying active. He also served as a volunteer while living in Czechoslovakia. Danny’s greatest enjoyment is spending time with his wife and three children at their home in Manhattan Beach. Danny is an Eagle Scout.

Douglas Dyakon

Vice President, Portfolio Management Associate Director


Doug oversees client service and works with Danny in managing the group’s investment management process. He is committed to providing the highest level of client service and actively manages client relationships. Doug joined Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management in May 2015.

After beginning his career as an analyst at Goldman Sachs in New York, Doug moved to their Private Wealth Management Division in Los Angeles in 2003. Following Goldman Sachs, Doug joined UBS in 2005. He graduated with honors from The George Washington University in 2001 with a B.A. in International Business and concentrations in Finance and Marketing.

Doug lives in Hollywood Hills with his French Bulldog, Jacques, and has a passion for traveling. He enjoys exploring new cultures and has traveled to six of the seven continents. Doug is also involved in various community organizations in Los Angeles.

Alex London

Associate Vice President, Wealth Management Associate


Alex works directly with Greg in pursuing business development opportunities and is also committed to providing excellent client service. Alex joined Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management in May 2015. 

Alex joined the team as an intern at UBS in 2009 and then began his career as a full-time associate in May 2010. Prior to UBS, he interned with the Trading and Research team at Churchill Management Group, a Los Angeles-based investment management firm. Alex graduated from The University of Southern California in 2010 with a B.S. in Business Administration and concentrations in Finance and Marketing.

Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, he currently lives in the Pasadena area with his wife. Alex has a passion for traveling and also enjoys exercising, playing golf, and spending time with family and friends.

Joel Russak

Associate Vice President, Wealth Management Associate


Joel focuses on portfolio analysis and investment research and is committed to providing excellent client service. He acts as a valuable resource for clients and works closely with Danny and Doug. Joel joined Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management in May 2015.

Prior to Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management, Joel worked for UBS beginning in January 2009. He previously worked as an intern for Convergent Wealth Advisors, a Maryland-based boutique wealth management firm, and Citi Smith Barney in the ultra-high net worth division. He graduated from The University of Southern California in 2009 with a Masters in Mathematical Finance. He also received a B.S. in Economics/Mathematics with a Business Law Minor from USC, completing his undergraduate degree with honors in December 2008.

Joel is a proud native of Los Angeles. His interests include cycling, racing automobiles and exercising.

J.B. Kalin

Wealth Management Analyst


J.B. works closely with Danny and Doug, assisting them with investment research, portfolio analysis, and client service. He joined Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management in May 2015.

J.B. began his career with UBS in July 2014 after interning with the team as an undergraduate student in the summer of 2012. Prior to working at UBS, J.B. was an intern in the safety systems division for Meggitt PLC, a global aerospace engineering company. He graduated with honors from The University of Southern California in 2014 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.

J.B. was born and raised in Iowa as the youngest of four siblings. His favorite activities are basketball, football, and maintaining his 1930 Ford Model A that his grandfather passed down to him. J.B. is an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and enjoys spending time with friends and family. He also coaches goalball, a sport for the blind and visually impaired, at the Junior Blind of America.
