About Gillian

Gillian Yu focuses on providing complex, holistic cross-border wealth management solutions for ultra high net worth individuals and families who live in Asia, the United States or a combination of both. Gillian’s primary focus is on helping her clients develop highly customized pre-liquidity planning solutions, monetization strategies, asset management strategies, wealth transfer strategies and plans to achieve their philanthropic goals.

Gillian joined Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management in 2015 after spending 14 years with Credit Suisse Securities (USA) in San Francisco. During her tenure there, she executed one of the largest directed share programs for one of the largest initial public offerings (IPOs) in history. Earlier in her career, she worked for Chase Manhattan Bank in Taiwan. She has ranked among the top 20 of Barron’s Top 100 Women Financial Advisors since 2011, and as a top 10 Women Financial Advisor in 2013 and 2014.  More recently, Forbes ranked Gillian as one of the top 200 America’s Women Financial Advisors in 2017. Within these lists, Gillian is amongst one of the few Mandarin-speaking Asian female advisors with extensive cross-border wealth management experience.

Gillian received her MBA from the University of California, Berkeley, in 2001. Born and raised in Taiwan, Gillian is fluent in Mandarin, Taiwanese and English. In her free time, she enjoys cooking and playing the piano, both of which require the same discipline and care she applies to catering to her clients’ needs. Her favorite composers are Chopin and Godowsky.

Annie Hsieh

Wealth Management Associate


Annie Hsieh helps the team’s clients formulate and implement asset allocation strategies, 10b5-1 plans, Rule 144 sales and trade execution. She also assists clients with portfolio reviews, wealth planning, lending facilities and philanthropic giving strategies. Her background includes executing family and friends directed share programs for numerous IPOs.

Annie started her career at UBS Financial Services working with both cross-border and domestic private wealth management clients. After UBS, she joined Credit Suisse Securities (USA), working primarily with Rule 144 affiliates and various international and domestic ultra-high net worth clients. She came to Morgan Stanley with the team in 2015.

A graduate of University of California, Berkeley, Annie holds a B.A. in three disciplines: International Trade and Relations (Interdisciplinary), Legal Studies and Japanese. She speaks English, Mandarin and conversational Japanese. Her interests include raw cooking, concocting new recipes, playing the piano, reading, cycling, volunteering and hiking with her Siberian Husky “Ponyo” and Samoyed “Mochi.”

Betty Luo

Senior Registered Associate


Betty Luo performs a broad variety of administrative and support functions. From onboarding new clients to servicing existing clients, she helps to deliver an outstanding service experience for all our clients. She implements clients’ 10b5-1 plans and Rule 144 sales and also assists in research, lending facilities and trade executions. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Betty worked with a boutique independent financial planning firm in San Francisco, where she also focused on the needs of ultra high net worth clients. 

Fluent in both Mandarin and Cantonese, Betty graduated from the University of California, Davis, with a B.S. in managerial economics. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and performing community service. She is a volunteer at Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco and at the Mission Economic Development Agency.
